In their first meeting Beech took a 2-1 win that rocked District 9-AAA to its core. For the second encounter, the contest meant the loser would see their 2010 season conclude and the victor move forward to both the district finals and earn a berth in the regional tournament. Station Camp entered the District 9-AAA tournament with a purpose, to return to the state. In their way stood Gallatin, to which the Lady Bison earned a 6-0 win. The semi finals were next, with Beech set as their opponent. For the Maroon and Gray, it not only marked a chance at retribution but a chance to secure place in the finals. It took over half of the opening period before Station Camp made their mark on the score board. Lindsay Mayo hurdled Buccaneer keeper Kiley Sanson en route to placing the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 Station Camp lead. Just over 11 minutes later, Kia Perry found the back of the net as well, giving Station Camp a 2-0 advantage at halftime. Perry was fouled in the first ten minutes of the second half, allowing Jessica Coleman to take a penalty kick. Though Sanson stuffed the initial attempt, Coleman followed and placed the rebound securely home for a 3-0 lead. Perry assisted Mayo on the two goals that followed. Mayo completed the hat trick with 14.8 second remaining in the match. The win provided Station Camp with a chance to play Hendersonville, their only other loss in the district in the last two seasons. Bison Head Coach Chris Thurman said, “We are executing well and everybody is doing for someone else right now. We are seemingly playing the way we have wanted all year. Our team building has gotten better and better.” “We still have one more team standing in our way. To make it to state is all these girls have ever known. Not to do that would be an atrocity,” continued Thurman. Station Camp met Hendersonville Wednesday night to decide the District 9-AAA title. At press time, the game had yet to be played.
