Inez Dorris Bateman

Mrs. Dorris, of Gallatin, died peacefully on May 11, 2013 at Morningside at the age of 93.

Inez was born on June 25, 1919 in Fairview. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Clyde Overbey and Gladys Jane Lampley Overbey; stepfather, William Grossholz; brother, Lewis Grossholz; husband of 46 years, Steve Dorris and second husband Paul A. Bateman.

She is survived by sons, Gary Dorris (Janan) and Mike Dorris (Janice) of Gallatin; three grandchildren, Suzanne McIllwain, Stephen Dorris (Carmen) of Gallatin and Michael Dorris (Shannon) of Brentwood.

Also, surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Dorris, Mac and Mary McIllwain of Gallatin, Trey, Tanner and Tinsley Dorris of Brentwood; sister-in-law, Sue Grossholz and several nieces and nephews.

A beautiful southern lady, "Moms" graduated from East High School in Nashville, married Steve Dorris and they moved to Gallatin in 1937 where they operated their family business, Steve's Cleaners. She was very active in local and state PTA, while her sons were in school.

Robert Lee “Bobby” England III 

Mr. England, 66, of Nashville, passed away May 3, 2013.  Funeral service was Tuesday, May 7 at the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Ferrell Haile officiating.

Interment followed in Crestview Memorial Park with friends serving as pallbearers.

Mr. England was born March 17, 1947 in Davidson County, son of the late Robert Lee England, Jr. and Margaret Wilson England.

He is survived by his wife, Nanette Nichols England of Nashville; sons, Robert Lee England IV (Lois) of Birmingham, AL, Kirk England (Ashley) Spring Hill and Thomas D. Woods (Maria) of Champaign, IL; step-daughters, Kathryn Nichols Crafton of Nashville and Natalie Rhea Crafton of Tuscaloosa, AL and grandchildren, Robert Lee England V, Helen Brice England and Henry Harrison England.

Eldred Graham Darrow

Mrs. Darrow, 98, of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013.

Funeral service was Tuesday, April 30 at the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Yarborough and Perry McArthur officiating.

Interment followed in Crestview Memorial Park with Perry McArthur, Jerry Blunkall, Jerry Woodard, David Dozier, John Hembree and John Woodard serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of Perry McArthur Sunday School Class, David Womack, Josh Womack, Ethan Highers, Mike Tinker, Jessie Anderson and Nathan Harsh.

Mrs. Darrow was born July 12, 1914 in Cherokee County, Kansas, daughter of the late Jack and Altha Rose Graham.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George Darrow; brothers, Fred Graham and Lee Graham; sisters, Helen Weiss and Irene Storey.

She is survived by sister, Catherine Brogan of Kansas City, MO; nephews, Mike Brogan (Nancy) of Canton, OH and David Brogan (Michelle) of Kansas City, MO; niece, Carol Bruggen (Greg) of Kansas City, MO; several great nieces and nephews; very special friend, neighbor and caregiver, Mary Womack of Gallatin.

Mrs. Darrow was the owner of Ben Franklin Store in Gallatin and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Morningside Employee Appreciation Fund, 1085 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066.

Carrie Siever

Mrs. Siever, 80, of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013.

Funeral service will be Thursday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Yarborough officiating. Burial will follow at Gallatin Cemetery.

Visitation is today, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Siever was born Nov. 1, 1932 in Davidson County to the late John Robert Petty, Sr. and Jessie Wright Kirk Petty.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Siever, sister, Patsy Cage and brother John Robert Petty, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Jamie Lacey (Daniel Satre) of Nashvill and Karen Hudson of Greensboro, NC; brother, Bill Petty (Charlotte) of Knoxville and half-brother, William David Petty (Pat) of Laurel, MS.; sisters, Myra Hayes (Glen) of Gallatin and Jo Dillehay of Hendersonville; step-sisters, Margaret McCarty and Beverly Maceo (Vincent); step-grandchildren, Sarah Hanson and Erica Satre; step-great-grandchildren, Liv Hanson and Dayne Hanson and beloved friends, Faye and Jim Bradley and Gloria and John Cooper.

Mary Williams Duncan

Mrs. Duncan, 93, of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 18 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Courtright officiating.

Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park with friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation is today, Wednesday, April 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 18 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Duncan was born July 16, 1919 in Macon County, daughter of the late K. C. and Ora Davis Williams. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Allen Duncan; brothers, Fred Williams, Raleigh Williams and Ray Williams.

She is survived by cousin, Nancy Cornwell of Hartsville and leaves behind wonderful friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Duncan attended Harvest Hills Baptist Church. She worked at Genesco for 35 years and volunteered for Sumner Regional Medical Center for 15 years.

Cora M. Scott

Mrs. Scott, 81, of Gallatin, passed away April 11, 2013. Funeral service was Saturday, April 13 at the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother David Schreiner officiating.

Interment followed in Sumner Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Scott was born Nov. 10, 1931 in Cottontown, daughter of the late Luke and Beulah Harper Simpson.

On Dec. 14, 1956, Cora married the late Joe R. Scott. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, J. D. Garrison; brothers, Charles Simpson and Ben Simpson; sisters, Betty Jo Wade and Nallie Barnes and grandson, Jared Spani.

She is survived by sons, Vernon Garrison of Lebanon, Barry Scott (Lisa) of Watertown and Fred Scott of Nashville; daughters, Robbie Triplett (John) of Cumming, GA and Vicki Spani of San Clemente, CA; brothers, Landon Simpson (June) of Cottontown, Harold Simpson (Pat) of Gallatin; sisters, Martha Smith (Ted) of West Palm, FL, Sue Covel (Leo) of Florida; sisters-in-law, Glenda Simpson of Cottontown and Brenda Simpson of Gallatin; grandchildren, Laura Baxter (Boone), Jessica Triplett, Brandon Scott, Courtney Scott, Kayla Spani and Dominick Spani; great grandchildren, Kendell Scott, Andre Simpson and Eleanor Sutherland and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Scott was a member of Gallatin Church of Christ.
