Mary Grace Brown


Mrs. Brown, 78, of Gallatin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013.


Funeral Service held Friday, Sept. 20, from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Shaw officiating. Interment followed in Crestview Memory Gardens with family serving as pallbearers.


Mrs. Brown was born Jan. 19, 1935, in Auburn, KY, daughter of the late Harmon and Eva Morgan Goforth.


She is survived by her husband, Robert S. Bob Brown of Gallatin; sons, Robert Tyler Brown (Kathy) of Hendersonville and Sam Brown (Bridget) of Mt. Juliet; daughter, Candy McMahon (Jack) of Gallatin; brother, Marshall Goforth of Panama City, Fla.; grandchildren, Taren Keebler, T. J. Brown, Skyler Brown, Mekenzie Brown, Conner Brown, Steven McMahon; step-grandchildren, Jack McMahon, Jr. and Sylvia McMahon.


Mrs. Brown worked in food service for Sumner County Schools.

Mary Frances Ford Taylor


Mrs. Taylor, 84, of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.


Funeral Service held Saturday, Sept. 21, from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Jonathan England and Brother Burton Whited officiating. Interment followed in Bushs Chapel Cemetery.


Mrs. Taylor was born in Coopertown, Tenn., daughter of the late John Joseph and Mary Elliott Ford.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Albert Jack Taylor and son, James Albert Taylor.


She is survived by daughters, Jackie Taylor Lancaster (Steve) and Mildred Taylor McDougal (Billy) of Gallatin; sister, Hazel Ford Fernalld Prickett of Xenia, Ohio; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.


Mrs. Taylor was a school bus driver in Ohio.

Wayne Verley


Mr. Verley, 78, ofWestmoreland, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013.

Mr. Verley was retired fromRCASpaceCenterinHightstown, N.J. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War.


Mr. Verley was preceded in death by his father, Nearl Augustus Verley and mother, Mary Lauer Verley.


He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Helen Verley ofWestmoreland; daughters, Sandy (Bill) Taylor ofWestmoreland, Tammy Pfieffer of Bordentown,N.J., Sherry (Joe) Foley of Ga., Dawn (Dave) Hamilton ofOwensboro,Ky.; brother, Harold (Cathy) Verley ofAriz.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.



Betty Jane Martin


Mrs. Martin, 56, of Hendersonville, passed away Sept. 21, 2013.


She was born to the late George Klauck and Mary Lou Woods in Sturgis, Mich., Jan. 19, 1957. Mrs. Martin served her country proudly in the U.S. Army where she was stationed in Germany. She had an unforgettable personality. She made friends everywhere she went because she was so easy to talk to. She was a very giving and honest person who touched the lives of many. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.


Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of 25 years, Frederick Martin; daughters, Angela and Peggy Anne Parks; grandchildren, Lilli Marie Sage and Matthew Whittington Ellis, II; several loving extended family members and her faithful companion, Oscar T.


My life has been touched because we have walked a special walk together, because you matter to me, because we are friends, because you have given me courage, because I care and I love you.

Marian Denney Williams


Mrs. Williams, 88, of Hendersonville, passed away Sept. 21, 2013.


She is preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.


She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ray Hendrix Williams and several nieces and nephews.

Dana Jackson D.J. Cull


Mr. Cull, 23, of Hendersonville passed away Sept. 20, 2013.


D.J. was a 2009 graduate of Hendersonville High School. He loved football and was a linebacker for the Hendersonville Commandos. He was also a member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church. D.J. worked for Bob Frensley Chrysler Jeep Dodge. He will always be remembered for being kind, thoughtful, courteous, outgoing and loving. D.J. had a smile that would light up any room; he truly had a beautiful soul who never met a stranger. He was wise beyond his years always having the ability to talk to anyone about almost anything. He had a passion for music, especially Hank Williams, Jr. D.J. had several hobbies but he truly loved being in the woods hunting with his dogs and playing his guitar. In the short time here on earth he touched many lives. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed.


He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Anna Sue Hyde. He is survived by his parents, Dana & Dena Cull; brother, Daly Cull; grandparents, Jack & Judy Sikes and Billy Joe & Noma Barton; several very special aunts, uncles, friends and his loving companions, Waylon & Roscoe.


A Life Celebration service was held on Wednesday at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Daly Cull, Kent Thacker, Parker McCall, Nick Yazzie, Kevin Stephens, Andrew Hight, Austin Clinard & Casey Stockwell. Honorary Pallbearers were Tysen Ellis, Colt Martin, Kerry B. Wix, Jared Armstrong, Chad Pennington, Nick Love, Eric Hight, Taylor Bozeman, Jesse Keith Whitely, Nick Southgate and a host of Commandos.

Letha Fuqua


Mrs. Fuqua, 91, of Gallatin, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.


Funeral Service was held Wednesday, September 25, from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Elder Joe Porter officiating. Interment followed in Crestview Memory Gardens with Doug Stinson, Mark Vesser, Eugene Watson, Joe Reed, Jimmy Fuqua and Paul Reece serving as pallbearers.


Mrs. Fuqua was born May 28, 1922 in Sumner County, Tenn., daughter of the late Jesse and Clara DeFreese Reed.


In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Sam Fuqua and sister, Etheline Harper.


She is survived by son, Ferrell Fuqua of Gallatin; daughter, Linda Watson (Eugene) of Gallatin; brother, Jesse Howell Reed (Betty) of Bethpage; grandchildren, Jimmy Ray Fuqua and Melissa Ann Reece (Paul).

Emmitt Jean Carey


Mrs. Carey, 76, of Gallatin, TN, passed away peacefully in her home late on Saturday,


Sept. 21, 2013.


She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to many throughout the community.


She is survived by her children, Janice Malone, William Carey, Joyce (Isaac) Williams, Betty (Bill) Stanton, Larry Carey, Audrey (John) Dowell and Myklyn Beck all of Gallatin.


The Homegoing Celebration Service of Mother (Grandmomma) Jean Carey will be held 1 pm, Thursday, Sept. 26, at Zion Upper Apostolic Faith Church located at 365 N. Blakemore Drive, Gallatin, with Bishop Isaac William Jr. officiating. Family & Friends Visitation held from noon till time of service.



Charles A. Tony Alexander


Mr. Alexander, 67, of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013.


Funeral Service will be Thursday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Yarborough officiating. Interment will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens with his children serving as pallbearers.


Mr. Alexander was born Dec. 22, 1945 in Trousdale County.


He is preceded in death by his father, Paul D. Alexander and sister, Paula Ann Alexander Troutt.


He is survived by his wife, Sue Newby Alexander of Gallatin; mother, Rubye Anne Russell Alexander of Gallatin; children, Doug Alexander and Travis Alexander of Nashville, Jennie Alexander, Brandy Shrum (Jon) and Bobbie Newby of Gallatin, Kipp Compton (Jocelyn) of Murfreesboro and Marni Akins of Smyrna; grandchildren, Addison Shrum and Will Osborne; brother-in-law, Bill Troutt of Gallatin.


He was owner of Family Heritage Funeral Home & Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin.
