Brenda Sue Hodges

age 63, of Portland, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18 from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Shrum officiating. Interment will be in Rock Bridge Cemetery with Cliff Suddarth, Billy Key, Rick Hodges, Jason Todd, Scotty McLean and Ty Hodges serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Hodges was born October 11, 1948 in Sumner County to the late James and Mary Hicks Key. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hodges, her brother Larry Key and her sister Barbara Todd. She is survived by her son Brandon (Holly) Hodges of Portland; daughter Christy (Ty) Hodges of Portland; brother Gary (Wanda) Key of Gallatin; sister Virginia (Walter) McLean of Destin, FL; grandchildren Candace Thompson and Haley Hodges and great-grandchild Rheagan Thompson. C. B. Taylor

age 89, of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Friday, August 17 from Family Heritage Funeral Home chapel. Interment followed in Crestview Cemetery with family and friends acting as pallbearers. Mr. Taylor was born May 14, 1923, in Jackson County to the late William Lloyd and Ethel Holland Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Butts Taylor and one brother, O.Z. Taylor. He is survived by his daughter, Doris (Kenneth) Ross of Goodlettsville; brothers, Guy (Anne) Taylor of Gallatin, Windon Taylor of Gallatin, George (Dimple) Taylor of Lebanon and one granddaughter Betty Jean Ross of Millersville. Mr. Taylor was a member at Union Hill Baptist Church.

JoAnne Brizendine Oates

age 74, of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Yarbrough officiating. Interment will be in Gallatin Cemetery with friends and family serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Saturday, August 18, from 2-8 p.m. and Sunday, August 19, from noon until time of service. Mrs. Oates was born February 21, 1938 in Sumner County, to the late Albert Julian and Tessie Adeline Moncrief Brizendine. She is also preceded in death by her husband, George Louis Oates III and three sisters. Mrs. Oates is survived by her daughter, Mary (David) Driver of Gallatin; one grandchild, Laura Margaret (Jeremy) Fritz of Gallatin; one great-grandchild, Jeremy Allen Fritz, Jr.; niece, Dorothy Ann Stewart and nephew, Paul Clifford Mosteller, Jr. Mrs. Oates was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gallatin and Professional Secretaries Association. Thelma Ruth Durham Guill

age 84, passed away peacefully at home in Hendersonville on Friday, August 10, 2012. Funeral service was Monday, August 13 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Yarbrough officiating. Burial followed in Sumner Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Guill was born in Davidson County, on March 13, 1928, daughter of William Virgil Durham and Era May Woodward Durham, who precede her in death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Guill, two brothers, William Fred Durham and Charles William Durham. She is survived by two sons, Bob Guill of Mt. Juliet and Tom Guill and wife Connie of Ashland City; one brother, James Durham of Lebanon and three sisters, Helen Woodall and husband Kenneth, Virgie Weldon and Lois Gattis, all of Gallatin; four grandchildren, Steven, Heather and Justin Guill, Jessamyn Bradley; one sister-in-law Demetrius Durham of Bethpage; nieces and nephews, Bridge Club ladies and special caregivers, Tammy and Mary.
