Dear Editor; A response must be made to Rep. Diane Black’s tirade to the recent upholding of the “affordable health” act. Bravo! Kudos! To a Supreme Court majority that finally got something correct. Mrs. Black’s uncaring attitude upon those unable to afford conventional policies is, well, sad. The misinformation she and her ilk spew forth is not a fair reflection of her district. This now affirmed law has no bearing on the hiring of individuals at all. That is fallacy. That is distortion. It doesn’t even apply to over 95 percent of upstart businesses, those of payrolls under 50 individuals. Finally! Through the courage of the Obama administration and a Congress at that time free of an indicative “far right” this law now exists and will endure. The health care PAC lobby has finally been bested and a decade’s overdue plan for health equality is now law. Ms. Black does not represent the majority of the sixth district on this. Her continued assault on fairness, if not ended, may end in her defeat at the polls, as even more and more are favorable affected by its provisions… as was the contested 1968’s Civil Rights legislation, this act will endure and far, far beyond Ms. Black’s tenure. God bless the five who made it happen and a President with courage. Charles Allstaedt Gallatin |
