The recognition will be conducted 20 minutes prior to kickoff — at 6:40 pm. Short coached 17 years at Gallatin (1976-93). His teams won three state championships (1978, 1989, and 1992) and they were state runners-up three times (1982, 1987 and 1991). Short posted 205 wins and 30 losses during those 17 years. His overall record at Gallatin High was 205 wins with only 30 losses. That record was pivotal in his selection to the TSSAA Hall of Fame in 2000. In those 17 years, the Green Wave lost only 14 games on their home field — nine regular season games and five playoff games. The name “Calvin Short Field” will be commemorated on the brand new scoreboard to be unveiled at this dedication ceremony. The scoreboard along with two new 25-second play clocks were recently donated and installed by Wilson Bank & Trust Gallatin Branch Office as part of the bank’s community outreach program.
