|Wildcats pounce early, down host Gallatin|
|Saturday, August 18, 2012|
Two special team miscues by Gallatin led to two early touchdowns for Wilson Central, and the Wildcats built on the momentum for a 35-13 win at Gallatin Friday night.
Kyle Coombs returned a blocked punt 30 yards for the Wildcats’ first touchdown, then Alex Price added a 52-yard punt return for touchdown.
Jordan Roundtree ran for a touchdown and threw for two more as Wilson Central (1-0, 1-0 District 9-AAA) built a 28-0 lead at the half.
Chris Lee caught both of the Roundtree TDs, finishing with four catches for 86 yards.
The Green Wave (0-1, 0) dedicated their field to former coach Calvin Short before the game, but the state championship-winning coach had to watch as the home team failed to establish anything offensively until the fourth quarter.
Late scores from Darian Banks and Tyler Meredith made the final score more respectable for Gallatin.
